These turkey burger sliders are made with succulent turkey patties, melted mozzarella and toasted Hawaiian rolls brushed with an Italian-infused oil blend.
Baking dish or mixing bowl I recommend using a lined baking sheet that way you can season your ground turkey and form the patties.
Spatula
Pastry brush
Ingredients
1.5lbsground turkey(85% lean-15% fat)
8rolls Hawaiian rolls(1 pack)
3.5tablespoonavocado oil (2 tablespoon for frying, 1 tablespoon to add to ground turkey, ½ tablespoon for Italian-herb oil blend. You can also use extra virgin olive oil or grapeseed oil.)
1tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
½tablespoonkosher salt
½tablespoononion powder
½tablespoongarlic powder
½tablespoondried parsley
½tablespoonsmoked paprika
1teaspoondried thyme
1teaspoonblack pepper
1teaspoonred pepper flakes(optional)
½teaspooncayenne pepper(optional)
1teaspoonItalian seasoning(for the Italian-herb blend for brushing the top of the Hawaiian rolls)
Instructions
In a mixing bowl or to a lined baking sheet add all your seasoning, Worcestershire sauce and avocado oil to the ground turkey. Gently mix until seasonings are evenly distributed. Do not over-mix.
Evenly divide the ground turkey and form into small patties.
Place a skillet over medium-high heat on the stove top. When hot, add your avocado oil. Then, place the patties in the hot skillet. Cook for 7 minutes, flip and continue cooking for 6 to 7 more minutes. Add the cheese to each patty , cover with a lid for 30 or so seconds until the cheese has melted.
Combine the remaining avocado oil and Italian seasoning and set aside. Use a knife to cut open the Hawaiian rolls. Place a cooked turkey patty between each roll creating a sandwich. Then, brush the top of each roll with the Italian-herb oil blend.
Place in a preheated 375 degree oven for a few minutes or until the Hawaiian roll is slightly toasted and serve.
Notes
Ground turkey is lean, and it needs a little fat added to create a moist texture. Add in a tablespoon of avocado oil, either extra virgin olive oil or grapeseed oil to the ground meat before cooking. This added fat makes for a tastier and much juicy burger.
Hawaiian slider buns, Hawaiian dinner rolls, or regular slider buns are great options for this recipe. Hawaiian slider buns are not always easy to find, so if I happen to go to the grocery store and see them I just buy a pack and freeze them.
When the internal temperature of your turkey patties reach 165 degrees F, they're done. To prevent them tasting dry, do not overcook them.
Do not be afraid to season your patties generously.
When mixing the seasoning into the ground meat, do not over-mix just mix until the seasoning is evenly distributed through the meat.
